From Help Desk to Architect

It started with family. Grandpa's computer, a friend's printer, a neighbor's network — problems that didn't come with a ticket number or an SLA, just someone who needed help and trusted you to figure it out. That foundation of trust-first problem solving eventually grew into freelancing for small businesses, all while raising a family of my own.

From there, a role managing operations at a financial institution — a large, multi-state organization with its own in-house IT department. My world was financial metrics: customer growth, loan originations, reactivations. Our office met or exceeded regional benchmarks consistently. But I had no IT admin access, and the calls still came from across the district. People who need problems solved find the person who solves problems — regardless of what's in their job description.

That informal reputation became a deliberate career. At Critical Computer Solutions I moved fully into IT — help desk, on-site technician, M365 admin — while also contributing to the day-to-day operations that keep an MSP running. Wearing multiple hats taught me how every layer of a stack affects every other one.

Most infrastructure people know one layer deeply. I've lived them all. That's the difference between knowing how a system should work and knowing why it doesn't.

That depth is what Parallax Intelligence represents — a self-hosted infrastructure platform I designed and operate myself. Docker, Traefik, N8N, Tailscale, zero-trust networking — not as a resume line, but as a daily operational reality. When the right tool didn't exist, I built it. It's the clearest demonstration I can offer of what I bring to a team.
